High School Visual Arts
* Students analyze works on display by 9th and 10th grade Visual Artists at the annual Sight and Sound show. An SOA Orchestra performance followed at 6:30pm. (below)
* Anne Cimballa and her students visit Columbia Museum of Art to view a collection of work by Matisse and large scale charcoal drawings by van Woerkon. Afterwards they were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum's vault! (below)
Middle School Visual Arts
* Eighth grade Visual Arts and Dance showcased their collaboration, called "Dancing with Colors", in the Rose Maree Myers Theater on Wednesday, March 7, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. (below)
* In November, SOA’s Sixth Grade Visual Arts and Creative Writing students, along with their teachers Mrs. Elizabeth Hart (Creative Writing) and Mr. Damond Howard (Visual Arts), traveled to Bulls Island in Awendaw (SC) and began a collaborative experience. Students created original, 2D works of art inspired by both the scenery at Bulls Island and poems written by the Creative Writers. The visual artists and writers showed/read their work alongside their partner’s work and discussed the ekphrastic art and writing process in a formal presentation to parents on December 18 in the SOA Rose Maree Myers Theater.
